Question 1

Do I need to install Special Items [1.8-1.16] on the client or the server?

Accepted Answer

The server only. Players join with an ordinary Minecraft client and install nothing.

Question 2

How do I install Special Items [1.8-1.16]?

Accepted Answer

Choose the release variant for your server platform. Paper, Spigot, Purpur and Bukkit files go in the server's plugins folder; Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt files go in the mods folder. Restart after installing and check that the Minecraft version matches your server.

Question 3

Where do I download Special Items [1.8-1.16] safely?

Accepted Answer

Start with the author's page on SpigotMC, which is where the data here is synced from. MCReference does not host or repackage files. When available, recorded download links go to the source for that release; verify the publisher, filename and any available checksum before running it.

Question 4

Which Minecraft versions does Special Items [1.8-1.16] work on?

Accepted Answer

The author has not declared a supported version in the metadata we sync, so there is nothing here we can state as fact. Check the project's own page before installing it, and treat an old plugin with no declared version as untested on modern Minecraft.
