How do I install Minecraft mods?
Install a mod loader such as Fabric or NeoForge first, then drop the mod file into your .minecraft/mods folder. The mod and the loader both need to match your Minecraft version.
What is the difference between Fabric and NeoForge?
Both are mod loaders that let Minecraft load mod files. Fabric loads faster and suits lightweight mods, while NeoForge carries forward the Forge ecosystem with a broader modding API. Mods written for one will not load on the other.
Do mods work on Minecraft servers?
Some mods are server only, some are client only, and some need both sides. Each listing here shows whether the mod needs the client, the server, or both.
What is a Minecraft mod?

How do I find mods that work on my Minecraft version?

Where do the downloads come from?

Which loader do mods need?
Mods need a loader such as Fabric, NeoForge, Forge and Quilt. Install the loader first, then the mod, and make sure both are built for the same Minecraft version.
